Message: The gospel according to Luke
Text: Luke 5:17-26
1 Timothy 1:15

Who is the worst person in this room?

Forgiveness should not create in us a self righteous attitude, but   rather gratitude, for what Jesus has done for us. To be self righteous means you have forgotten what Jesus has done for you.

Oswald Chambers,  "When once you realize all that it cost God to forgive you, you will be held as in a vice, constrained by the love of God."

C.S. Lewis,  "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you."

Message: The gospel according to Luke
Text: Luke 5:12-16

What do you want Jesus to do?
What do you think Jesus wants to do? Miracles happen when these two things match up!

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
“My grace is enough…”
Paul was not asking for too much, he was not asking for enough.
Is it possible to ask too much of God?

“Yes” would have meant weakness, “No” has turned to strength

Message: The gospel according to Luke
Text: Luke 5:1-11

Answering the call:
So what?
Jesus didn’t create the fish on the spot, they were already swimming all around the nets and the boats the whole time.

Answering the call:
I haven’t just been taught, I am  being taught.
What Jesus is asking you to do   isn’t just hard, it’s impossible.

Franklin Roosevelt. “The hardest thing you will ever do is help     people!”

Message: Who is the main character in your Bible?

Colossians 1:16
You were born for Him

John 3:16
He was born for you

Henry Blackaby,  "Part of the Book of Genesis is the record of God     accomplishing His purposes through Abraham.  It is not the   record of Abraham's walk with God.  Can you see the differences of      focus?  The focus of the Bible is God."

Mozart,  "Remember, merciful Jesus, that I am the cause of your journey."

Message: The gospel according to Luke
Text: Luke 4:31-37

~”I know who You are…”
Demons are not confused at all as to who Jesus is. They want to confuse you as to who Jesus is.
There are at least 2 things that are essential to know about Jesus, they are both in Romans 10:9

~Jesus speaks/commands. God does not expend effort as we would, He speaks…

~Colder is bolder. Hotter is bolder. Lukewarm is tepid...apathetic.

Text: Luke 4:28-31
(Hebrews 12:1-2)

The Sin:
Sin is breaking God’s law

All sins are mistakes, but all mistakes are not sins

The Weight:
Celebrate Recovery — “Our hurts, habits and hang-ups”
Our temptations, addictions, fears, failures memories, worries… our issues

Our problem is that we can be guided more by our sins and       issues than by our righteousness (Jesus)

The only solution for our sins and issues that Celebrate Recovery or anyone has to offer is Jesus
